The first taste of Chalkidi

After a one hour ride with Steve, driving a Romanian Duster, I got to Ormos Panagias.

Meet Steve, the Greek

Exploring the surroundings

This place is a natural harbor, lots of yachts are parked here, many people come for fishing.

Situated on the base of Sinthia, but on the other side compared to Nikiti

I saw cars from Romania, Serbia, Hungary, Bulgaria and, of course, most of them from Greece.

To the left is the Ormos settlement

The water is so clear, so blue and the cliffs surrounding this small laguna are just amazing for sightseeing.

I found a great spot to hide my backpack and I took my smaller one. The area is pretty, not crowded, but still populated.

Here is the parking place for the rich

And the fauna is also intriguing. I ate today half a kilo of figs. That whilst I deepened my feet in the salted water.

Cactus with fruits (not sure if edible or if ready)
Why are you here? This country has place only for olives
Don’t wanna step on one of these

What’s next?

I find this area good for camping, even though I don’t have a charge station, nor a source for water. Though there is a well supplied supermarket and lots of restaurants where I could ask for a battery recharge. The water is cheap.

I got lucky with the free WiFi from the houses and hotels. Thus I can save a lot of data and battery
